Dec 2019: Cornwall Council has closed a short section of the South West Coast Path National Trail at Upton, located between Bude and Widemouth Bay. This is due to instability of the cliff. A new route is in place following a public bridleway and a pavement alongside Marine Drive.

Volunteers working for the charity that champions the South West Coast Path have been recognised through The King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2024. This is the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK and is equivalent to an MBE. The organisation was founded by volunteers over 50 years ago and they still play a vital role in looking after this world-class trail.
On Thursday 26th September the South West Coast Path International Friendship Trail was opened at Maple Cross Nature Reserve, Cape Chin in Canada.
