Our supporters

At the South West Coast Path Association, we are really lucky to have a huge range of supporters who help us to deliver our promises and look after the Path, conserving it for future generations and promoting it for the enjoyment of everyone. Ways that we are supported are shown below and we always welcome new supporters of all kinds.

We have a membership base of over 7,000 dedicated South West Coast Path lovers, a handful of these members have been supporting us since the very beginning in 1973. Some are individual members and some joint, we also have a number who live overseas and want to enable us to continue the good work from afar. Whatever the reason for being a member, you are always welcome. Find out more.

Strategic Partner

The National Trust are a key partner and we are working closely together to promote and protect the Coast Path with a Collaboration Agreement that sets out the terms of this partnership.

The National Trust owns approximately a third of the Coast Path, the route of which provides the linking thread between some of its most treasured coastal properties.

It costs approximately £1,400 per mile per year to look after the Coast Path. With funding in significant decline from Natural England, the joint fundraising efforts of the association and our partners has become increasingly important for the future of the Coast Path.

Corporate Supporters

The Association is also supported by corporate sponsors who can be found here.

Way Makers

We work with a diverse range of local businesses, who are located on or near the South West Coast Path, through our Way Maker scheme. This allows Way Makers to connect their business to this world-famous hiking trail and show their support for the Path. For walkers, it means they can find the best places to stay, eat & drink, book an activity or visit, knowing that their money will be spent at places that understand the importance of looking after our environment. You can find all our Way Makers on our website, listed alongside walks in their area as well as in our Complete Guide to the South West Coast Path

Volunteers

We also have a core group of volunteers who have positions such as Trustee, Area Rep and Local Rep, these volunteers are vital in the Association’s work and their help and dedication is often unseen but never unappreciated. Find out more about how to get involved here.
