Dogs on the Coast Path

Dogs are welcome on all 630 miles of the Coast Path, so there’s plenty for you both to explore.

Dog walking is a firm favourite for many of us on the Coast Path, with 630 glorious miles to explore on two – or four legs! That’s why we recruited our newest volunteer, Rudy, the SWCP Ambassadog to inspire your next pawesome adventure.

Six-year-old Rudy is a fox red Labrador-Golden Retriever from Redruth in Cornwall who loves swimming, adventures, chasing tennis balls and dog training. His favourite stretch of the Coast Path is the rock scrambling wonders between St Ives and Zennor.

On this page there's lots of useful information that will help you enjoy your time on the SWCP with your dog. Access amazing walks. Learn how to stay safe and what owners should do if dogs get into trouble. Find out when dogs are and aren't allowed on the beaches (and which ones let dogs on all year round!). And discover why walking the Coast Path really is better for you than a loop round the park.
