Coast Path Connectors Cornwall
“Hi, I’m Jack. I am lucky enough to have worked with the Cornwall community since 2022 and have loved promoting the benefits of walking and the SWCP to different groups and communities. I have learnt so much about the rich history of the Cornish coastline and been immersed in nature, but what makes it so very special is the people I continue to meet.”
Community organisations we work with:
The below video introduces you to Jack (Community Engagement - Cornwall), Tuesday, one of our volunteers and Jani, a walk participant as they explore around the Coast Path at Hayle. Our sociable walking groups are designed to be as accessible as possible and participants are given detailed information before joining so that they know what to expect and feel confident about coming along.

Details: Walk Length: 5.5 miles. *Sign up for this walk is via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1989013699518?aff=oddtdtcreator. Join the Coast Path Connectors as we team up with Bill from Polzeath Walks at Rough Tor and Bodmin Moor. It won't be the typical hike up the tor as we will be venturing into the Land of the Giants to see some of the most impressive Neolithic sites in North Cornwall. We'll visit the Long Stone, which is the tallest standing stone on the moor at 9 feet, walking along the often missed Rough Tor Long Cairn which at 500 meters is one of the largest in Europe and served as a ceremonial walkway for ancient people thousands of years ago. And we will also visit Stannon Stone Circle, another site often missed. We will meet at 11:00 a.m. at the Rough Tor National Trust Car Park (PL32 9QG). The walk is approximately 9 km and we expect to be back at the start by around 3.30pm

A quick stop (coincidently next to a lovely fish and chip shop and pasty shops), before we make our way back along the coast path, past Falmouth Docks and to Pendennis Community Centre. This route has plenty of history we can stop and talk about on the way. This is an accessible route on pavements and suitable for trampers or similar machines. The route is generally very flat, with just one steady steep hill up to Pendennis Community Centre.
Date: Friday 26 June
Location: Meet 9am Newquay Bus station, Porthcothan to Watergate Bay
Details: Walk Length: 7 miles. The walk sets out from the beautiful cove of Porthcothan Bay and we follow the coast path for an initial gradual climb out of the valley. We continue our ascent with increasing elevation to lead us towards Park Head. Park Head affords us panoramic views in both directions and on a clear day, Trevose Lighthouse will be visible. From Park Head we make our way towards Bedruthan Steps with a series of smaller descents and climbs. We will have spectacular views of the offshore stacks on the beach below us at Bedruthan Steps. As we make our way past Bedruthan and Carnewas we will begin a sustained descent along uneven pathways and steps to Mawgan Porth. We leave the beach and valley at Mawgan Porth via steep and fairly challenging uneven steps. However, the path levels somewhat until the next sharp descent into the valley at Beacon Cove. The pathway out of the valley is once again a steep, challenging ascent via uneven steps and a pathway, which is also close to the cliff edge. Once at the top, the path levels out to a flatter stretch before dropping down into the valley of Watergate Bay. This is a volunteer led walk.

This walk comes in at around 3.5 miles, and there are plenty to see. It starts off flat, before a section of sand dune walking and then onto the coast path. The walk finishes close to a cafe for anyone wanting to stick about for a drink.

Each walk has been planned to be appropriate for the walking group and participants’ needs. We will always let participants know where the nearest toilets are, the terrain, steepness, steps on route, and distance. We aim to make our walks as accessible as we can. Please do get in contact if you need further information before the walk, to check that it is suitable for your individual needs.
A Walk Plan for each walk is available so that participants can ensure the walk is a suitable distance and difficulty for them. For more information contact Jack Greaves on [email protected].
