Route Description

  1. From the Farm Shop go into the field at the rear. Cross the field, bearing right and downhill to the Cornish hedge along the bottom.

See the notes on this location in the first Taster walk.

  1. Cross the stone stile in the Cornish hedge.

Note the acorn waymark here. The South West Coast Path is a National Trail, and all National Trails use the acorn symbol as their waymark.
After crossing over the stile turn immediately left along the path.
Quite soon there are further magnificent views back over the cove at Pentargon, including now a glimpse of a waterfall that plunges down the cliff from the bottom of the valley to the cove. The waterfall is the result of long-term coastal erosion eating the cliffs back up the valley. The stream now ends abruptly before it naturally would. Thus it falls rather than flows to sea level.
Continue along the path, passing through a kissing-gate into a field.

  1. Continue on the Coast Path, along the bottom of the field, to the next kissing-gate.

These fields are of nature conservation importance and are farmed under agreement with Natural England (the Government's wildlife agency) using no artificial fertilisers or sprays.

  1. Go through this kissing-gate and turn left, leaving the Coast Path and following alongside the hedge. At the far end go through a gate on the left and cross the field to another gate in a gap in the hedge opposite and slightly to the left. Go through this gate and cross the next field to return to the Farm Shop.
