Walk - Three Sides of The Lizard
4.0 miles (6.4 km)
Lizard Village Green - TR12 7NQ Lizard Village Green
Moderate - This path is fairly level, with a few short climbs and rougher sections. There is a network of paths radiating like spokes between the village and the Coast Path, so it is easy to make this walk shorter or longer if you wish.
A walk around the rugged tip of The Lizard, passing the most southerly point on the mainland, following undulating high cliffs. It is a lovely walk in springtime, when the grassland is bright with many different wildflowers, and in the autumn, when the bushes are full of migrant birds such as pipits, warblers and buntings. There are many fascinating features for children, including the lighthouse and lifeboat station, the Marconi wireless museum and an ancient mass grave underfoot for the bloodthirsty! Look out for seals and choughs. The Lizard was used for various scenes in the Poldark series (based on the books by Winston Graham) at Gunwalloe and Lizard Point – the most southerly point of the UK.
Use this walk (or part of it) to visit the hidden beach at Housel Bay.
