Great walks along the Jurassic Coast

Budleigh Salterton to Otterton walk

A superb 5 mile walk, not too energetic but very rewarding, offering excellent views and bird watching opportunities.

Beer to Branscombe walk

A varied 5 mile long moderate walk between two contrasting villages. There are extensive views, as well as geology, and wildlife and historical interest.

Seaton to Lyme Regis Undercliffs

A challenging 7 mile walk, passing through the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliffs National Nature Reserve, one the highlights of the Jurassic Coast. The landscape is a unique, wild area of landslides, tumbled coastline and luxuriant vegetation.

West Bay to Burton Bradstock

A walk from West Bay on the footpath through the golf course to Burton Bradstock, walking back along the coast. There are far-reaching views across the Devon coastline from the top of the high cliffs. There are a few steps (some steep) and a short stretch of very steep descent back into West Bay.

Fortuneswell - Portland Bill

An easy walk along spectacular high cliffs passing a sculpture park and old limestone quarries before descending to the famous Portland Bill. Portland is famous for its limestone which has been valued as a construction material since Roman times. It has been used on many famous buildings, including Exeter Cathedral, Westminster Palace, the first stone version of London Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral, the United Nations Building in New York and most recently London’s New Stock Exchange which opened in 2004.

Portland Bill - Fortuneswell

A varied walk along the east coast of Portland, passing great scenery, historical forts and old quarry workings. From the start of this walk at Portland Bill, on a clear day you can see more of the coast than from any other point on the South West Coast Path. To your west the view stretches around to Start Point in South Devon, whilst eastwards you can see as far as Durlston Head. This takes in 190 miles of the Coast Path - almost a third of its total length.

Swanage to Studland Village via Old Harry Rock

An easy walk that takes you from Swanage to the famous landmark of Old Harry – the eastern end of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and on to the village of Studland. There are superb views over Poole Bay to Bournemouth and across the Solent to the matching cliffs of the Needles on the Isle of Wight.
