Walk - Sharp Tor & Bolt Head
3.6 miles (5.7 km)
South Sands - TQ8 8LL South Sands
Moderate - Coastal footpath, uneven and rocky in places, footpaths through fields, and a surfaced road, with some ascent and descent, including steps.
A short sharp stroll through a tropical wonderland of palms and banana trees to a rugged wilderness of rocky spires and pinnacles, where ravens wheel and peregrines and kestrels hunt above the gorse and heather. Allow time to visit the National Trust property at Overbecks, bought by inventor Otto Overbeck in the 1920s after his pioneering electrotherapy machine 'The Rejuvenator' amassed him a small fortune. The walk is especially good in spring and autumn when migrant birds gathering include finches, linnets, meadow pipits and even yellow wagtails.
