Walk - Corfe Castle to Kimmeridge
4.9 miles (7.8 km)
Corfe Castle Square BH20 5EZ Kimmeridge Bay
Moderate - Ancient tracks and footpaths which may be muddy in places, with some rough ground. Nearly all of it is downhill.
An alternative walk when the Lulworth Ranges are closed for live firing, this is an easy stroll from below the walls of Corfe Castle through some of Purbeck's most beautiful scenery to Kimmeridge Bay. Catch the bus, and sometimes train too, from Lulworth to Corfe Castle and drop down over heathland and through a landscape dotted with ancient remains to the limestone-and-shale coastline - but allow plenty of time first for exploring the Norman Corfe Castle and the village that grew up around it. A good walk in autumn, when late bees and butterflies browse among the bracken and brambles in the valley running down to the coast.
