Challenging - There are some areas of steep ascent and descent, including steps, but there are plenty of waymarked paths inland from the Coast Path if you find you want to finish early. The paths may be muddy and good footwear is recommended. It may also be windy, so wear warm clothing.
A long walk, with shortcuts available, along the ancient route used by the local priest to walk between his churches here and in Swanage, returning along the coastline, a much-quarried landscape of white rocks and blocks. The cliffs are pitted with caves and tunnels where the limestone has been exploited since Roman times for the construction of cathedrals and other monumental buildings, and the fossils found in it (including diplodocus footprints, though sadly not visible here) have been of tremendous importance to geologists dating the rocks.
