Walk - Avocet Line: Lympstone to Exmouth
2.3 miles (3.8 km)
Lympstone Station Exmouth Station
Easy -
A gentle stroll mostly on the Exe Valley cycle route, along the eastern bank of the Exe Estuary, whose mudflats, sandbanks and marshes are of international importance for their wildlife, especially the tens of thousands of resident and migratory waterbirds. Look out for avocets, curlews and lapwings, as well as seals and otters, and buzzards wheeling overhead. Take time to explore Exmouth, one of Britain's oldest seaside resorts, before catching the train back to Lympstone.
