Walk - Rinsey Head - Butterflies and a Bishop
3.7 miles (6.0 km)
Praa Sands Car Park - TR20 9TQ Praa Sands car park
Easy - There is a gradual ascent on the Coast Path, which is narrow in places, and a short stretch of fairly steep descent later on, but for the most part this is a moderately easy walk through fields and dunes.
A gentle stroll to an inspiring cove where no fewer than 23 species of butterfly have been spotted drifting above spectacular rock formations. Ruined engine houses perch dramatically on the cliffs at Wheal Trewavas, while the mine building at Wheal Prosper was used in the filming of a Poldark sequel. There are breathtaking views over Mounts Bay and in spring the heath and grassland above the cliffs is alight with wildflowers. In summer look out for seals, dolphins and basking sharks in the water below you. A good walk for children, who will love the beach and the romance of the old mine buildings.
