Big Syn International Film Festival

We are absolutely thrilled that the Trailblazer Walk film, documenting our epic 55 day relay in 2023, celebrating our 50th anniversary, is a finalist in the charity film category of the 2025 Big Syn International Film Festival – the world’s biggest sustainability film festival.

We are incredibly proud that the Trailblazer Walk film has been selected as a finalist in such a prestigious film festival and are very grateful to the jury and organisers - thank you.

The Trailblazer Walk was a challenge on several levels (organisationally, mentally, physically), but at the core was an event that brought our passionate Coast Path community together to celebrate the charity that for 50 years has been championing, protecting and improving the South West Coast Path National Trail. We had over 1000 people join us on the relay over 55 days, from our valuable volunteers to our Trail partners, Way Maker businesses, stakeholders, sponsors, donors, and supporters. The experience of uniting people with a common goal to walk and talk, and share their love of the South West Coast Path, through 630 miles of breathtaking scenery, was one that holds a very special place in the history and heart of the charity. To have this recognised by the Big Syn International Film Festival is wonderful.

The award night is being held on the 7th November in London, check our socials for an update on the night!

About the Big Syn International Film Festival

‘Big Syn’, stands for ‘Big Synergy’ – the driving force for the initiatives of CBS.

Big Syn Institute is the creative and cultural arm of the Centre for Big Synergy, and was founded to create positive changes through the power of art and creativity.

Big Syn International Film Festival was founded in 2019 by the founders of Centre for Big Synergy, sustainability advocates and thought leaders, Dr. Ragini G Roy and Dr. Sourav Roy. It was as an extension of their myriad efforts to educate the civil society about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and inspire them to act on those using the power of meaningful cinema.

Since inception, OSCAR, BAFTA and EMMY award-winners as well as leaders from film, media, sustainability, policy and social impact have joined forces with them to establish the Big Syn International film festival as the world’s biggest sustainability film festival.

Good stories with worthwhile messages always leave a lasting impression on the audience. When such stories are told via moving images, it can inform and influence millions. Meaningful stories, told through film and media have been catalysts for social, economic and political changes since the birth of the art form. The inspiration for the Big Syn International Film Festival is drawn from this unparallel power of effective storytelling via films. When important messages are passed in the context of a visual story rather than just a generic message itself, the impact is far greater than otherwise.

The Big Syn International Film Festival is celebrating exemplary films and videos that are informing the core objectives of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to the civic society, and encouraging them to actively participate in meeting the core objectives of the United Nations 2030 Agenda
