Walkers join with local company to support the South West Coast Path

Walkers using Luggage Transfers support the South West Coast Path with Christmas donation
Luggage Transfers, the company which helps to lighten the load for thousands of walkers every year by moving their bags around the South West Coast Path, has raised over £1,700 for the South West Coast Path Association to help the charity in its work to protect and care for the 630 miles which make up one of the region’s most iconic natural treasures.
Helston-based Luggage Transfers, which delivered over 35,000 bags over the year to almost 2,000 different accommodation providers and 420 different towns across the Path in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, and Dorset and beyond, encouraged walkers using its services to help look after the Coast Path by adding a donation to their booking.
The Path, which attracts 9 million visitors a year and brings £520 million into the local visitor economy, is under increasing threat from damage from climate change. It costs £1,500 to look after each mile every year – half of which is raised by the charity which works with its partners to maintain and repair it, to look after the unique wildlife corridor and help people from all walks of life to enjoy the Path’s amazing health and wellbeing benefits.
Mike Kearon, Managing Director of Luggage Transfers, which he started 13 years ago and is now the only luggage transfer company delivering right across the whole South West Coast Path, said, “The South West Coast Path is essential to our business, so it makes sense to support those looking after it as much as we can. We have supported the South West Coast Path Association since 2009, raising over £14,000 and look forward to continuing to do so in the years to come."
Sarah Gunn, Business Engagement for the South West Coast Path Association said, “This is a fantastic contribution from Luggage Transfers and its customers – it’s great to see a business and users of the Path giving back to help us in our important work to care for the Path which is so important to the local tourism economy, to wildlife and to peoples’ physical and mental health and wellbeing. We’d love to see more businesses working with us in this way.”
A huge thank you to Luggage Transfers for their enduring support and to all their customers for donating to the Path.
