Last chance to capture the coast in annual competition
There’s just under a week to go to enter the annual South West Coast ath Association’s photography competition.
Award-winning landscape photographer Adam Burton, is the official judge along with the National Trail Officer for the South West Coast Path, Mark Owen.
A previous entrant in the competition with a photograph that appeared in the official Coast Path calendar before turning pro, Adam published a new book earlier this year, ‘Photographing Devon and Cornwall’, which is largely focused on the region’s stunning coastline alongside the landscapes of Exmoor, Dartmoor and Bodmin.
Adam says of the Coast Path: “The coastline of the South West has always been very special to me. Producing the book gave me the perfect opportunity to re-visit some of the world's finest coastal locations, when the majestic scenery is showcased in glorious natural light.”
The South West Coast Path provides access to 630 miles of coastal scenery from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to the shores of Poole harbour in Dorset. It offers endless opportunities for the budding landscape photographer to capture beautiful seascapes from the ideal vantage point where the view changes along with the weather and the seasons.
Mark Owen, National Trail Officer for the South West Coast Path, said: “The South West Coast Path is one of the world’s greatest walks and it’s easy to see why in Adam’s work. We hope this inspires some of the region’s best photography talents to showcase their work through entering this competition, to help take their work to the next level.”
The South West Coast Path’s annual photography competition, which closes on December 1st 2016, is open to budding photographers of all ages and abilities; prizes include a £250 voucher to spend at Cotswold Outdoor for the overall winner and a 1-1 photography workshop with Adam Burton. All 12 calendar winning entries will receive a copy of Adam Burton’s new book ‘Photographing Devon and Cornwall’, membership of the South West Coast Path Association, a Ciccerone guidebook, as well as the chance to grace the official 2018 Coast Path calendar.
