The section of coast path at Appledore, (by the lifeboat station) travels up some steps and on to a walk way above a low cliff, then on to the Skern.   These steps and cliff face got battered by the sea in the recent storms and cracks have appeared in the steps and the walkway has been seriously under cut. As a safery precaution this section of the path jas been closed  and the route is diverted along the Torridge Road as shown on the map below.
