Giles Taylor
Trustee
Growing up on the Blackdown Hills I was spoilt for choice on whether to head to the north-coast or south. Now based in Exeter, I can usually be found bumbling along a different section of the path at the weekends, no matter the weather or time of year.
I'm a huge advocate of the power of walking and having suffered an incomplete spinal cord injury a few years ago, I learnt what it was like to have this ability taken away. The SWCP formed a huge part of my recovery both physically and mentally and I am saddened to hear that there are people of all ages who have barely stepped foot on the path, despite it being recognised as one of the best in the world!
As a qualified solicitor I hope to bring some commercially astute experience to Board and to the Association, with the aim of guiding them in the right direction on legal matters. Admittedly I buck the national trend by being amongst only 3% of trustees under the age of 30. However, I hope to encourage a younger demographic to experience the benefits, support conservation efforts, and to involve them in maintaining and preserving this iconic path for future generations to come.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions, need support or would like to go for a walk!
