Our Projects - Carbis Bay

The project involved 2 areas of work:

1.Hawk’s Point to the boundary of the Sand Dunes – Vegetation cutting cleared the way for access then 80 oak timber fronted steps were installed on the slopes and drainage grips/channel and scraping carried out to the surface. The steps will make access easier for walkers and the drainage works will help keep the path drier. Access is on foot over the railway branch line pedestrian crossing, so all materials & tools were carried onto the work site and all works completed by hand.

2.Golf Course to St Uny Church – Repairs to the tarmac surface and the sandy path entering the golf course were carried out adjacent to the church. 5 wide granite fronted steps and side drain works were installed on the approach and under the railway bridge. The steps will make access easier for walkers and the drainage works will help reduce scour damage. Access is on foot from the church to the railway bridge work site, so all materials & tools were carried onto the work site and all works completed by hand.

Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, this project was successfully completed.
