Our Projects - Bosigran boardwalk and granite steps

The project aims were to provide improved access through a wet flush on Bosigran cliffs through improved surfacing using timber boardwalks. This has brought improved access over approximately 30 metres through the flush. The ground on this section of coast path is granite clitter that is very deep. It proved impossible to fix upright timber posts to a depth that would make them secure. We therefore had to change the specification by using the granite clitter blocks in situ as stepping stones. This has reduced our ability to complete the whole section with only enough useable granite to complete approximately 30 metres of path. This has improved the worst section of the path. There is now an application raised to gain funding to import granite to the site to complete the work fully.
