Our Projects - Higher Predannack Cliffs, Lizard
To improve a section of the Coast Path along Higher Predannack cliffs that gets boggy in the winter, the Association is helping fund Cornwall Council to install granite stepping stones along a 80 – 100 yd stretch. This will allow the natural water flow across the slope to continue (the boggy area is botanically interesting) whilst providing a durable dry way for walkers to get through.
The slabs / boulders will be carefully selected from nearby Porthoustock Quarry to ensure the closest geological continuity. They will then be placed along the path using a similar technique to that used at Clodgy Point (St Ives) where the stones were ‘banged’ down into the ground using the digger bucket – see photo below.
