Our Projects - Porthkidney, near St Ives - path surfacing

We plan to improve the surfacing and drainage on this popular section of the Coast Path, which in wet weather has become muddy.  This section offers relatively easy walking, has great views across St Ives Bay, and as it links up 2 railways stations, 2 miles apart, this is a great one-way walk.

This will involve clearing back the bushed either side of the path to let more air and light onto the path surface so it can dry out more quickly and also improve the steps and drainage. It was hoped that with the help of Network Rail stone for surfacing could be brought in by train and deposited to the side of the track from where it could be easily moved onto the path - but unfortnately  it doesn't seem that this will be logistically possible.
