Our Projects - Rockham beach steps

The steps down to the beautiful Rockham Beach, close to Mortehoe were washed away during the severe storms in February 2014, following a long wet winter that had a big impact on the unstable and eroding cliffs surrounding the beach.

The repair work was difficult due to the complicated geology of the site, but were completed in March 2016 in time for summer visitors to once again enjoy this beach. The repairs were made possible thansk to a result of a partnership that included the National Trust and Devon County Council led by the South West Coast Path Association that successfully secured funding from the Coastal Communities Fund.

Below: The new steps and the cliff fall that destroyed the old path to the beach.
