Our Projects - Praa Sands - New Steps improve Beach Access
The Coastal Communities Fund grant awarded to the South West Coast Path Association was used at Praa Sands to replace the steps down to this popular beach following damage caused by local wave action and erosion.
This was an important part of a larger project carried out by Cornwall Council and the Environment Agency, as part of the shoreline management plan for the area, with the steps being constructed of concrete, they are intended to be long lasting and robust enough to withstand future storms.
The contractors, CORMAC removed the original steps, re-profiled the slope, fixed step front risers and edging and formed new steps with concrete.
