Our Projects - Westcombe Beach - New bridge installed

The footbridge across the stream at Westcombe Beach was undermined by the exceptional storm surges of early 2014. Thanks to funding from the South West Coast Path Association’s South Hams Appeal and the Coastal Communities Fund, Devon County Council were able to re-site the footbridge slightly upstream and on more substantial abutments. This should safeguard it against future storms and thus ensure walkers can continue to enjoy this section of Coast Path.
