Our Projects - Baulk Head - Coast Path relocated to avoid cliff erosion

Landslips and ongoing coastal erosion in early 2014 meant that this section of Coast Path had got dangerously close to the cliff edge, and there was concerns that the next big storm could sever the path. To make it safer, in conjunction with their tenant farmer, the National Trust moved a 200 metre stretch of adjacent fencing inland by around 15 metres to provide a much wider strip of land for the Coast Path to run through and create a rough grassland habitat for wildlife and flowers.  This work was paid for using funds secured by the South West Coast Path Association from the Coastal Communities Fund, and should safeguard this section of the Coast Path for many years.
