Our Projects - Mason's Trail

27 The Mason’s trail is a short trail using the South West Coast Path and other footpaths that reveals the rich legacy of stone working and quarrying in the area. This can be traced back to the Roman times and has been a major industry in the area. These past industrial relics now lie hidden beneath the tranquil beauty of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty but whose story deserves to be told. A booklet was designed to explain the rich heritage of stone working in the area and leaves walkers better informed about past activities the traces of which only become apparent once they are pointed out to the casual visitor.
