Our Projects - Lamorna Bridge

Lamorna Cove in Penwith is a picturesque cove on the Coast Path between Mousehole and Porthcurno. A footway river crossing in the form of flag stones and timber supports has been in place for many years. In recent years it has deteriorated and become unsafe. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, the existing structure was able to be removed, including the central support in the river bed, existing abutments inspected and repaired and a new oak footbridge fixed in place to span across the top of the abutments. This sits high above the watercourse, doesn't have a central support and therefore doesn't restrict water flows or suffer the pressures of regular water flows.
