Our Projects - Cadgwith and Gwavas

This project encompassed a number of improvements along a 1.5 mile section of the South West Coast Path, both north and south of Cadgwith on the Lizard. Where the path climbs out of Cadgwith to the north, it enters a section enclosed by hedgebanks known as ‘the cut’. The path was narrow and awkward with an uneven surface and drainage problems. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, these issues were alleviated by path widening, cross drains, stone steps and infilling over the uneven surface. South of Cadgwith path subsidence around a difficult rock outcrop was tackled by installation of a stone revetment and drilling out part of the rock.
