Our Projects - Osmington Mills

At Osmington Mills the South West Coast Path leaves the road and passes up an alley with gardens on both sides. The alley, approximately 50 metres long, had become very difficult to walk upon due to uneven ground and tree roots. Large sections of the existing surface had been washed out by water run-off. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, this project has improved the surface by levelling off the path surface, removing tree roots, improving drainage and laying down and compacting approximately 50 metres of a new tarmac surface. A drainage channel has been excavated and lined with timber shuttering to lead to a drainage overflow.
