Our Projects - Portnadler Steps

The purpose of this project was to improve access to Portnadler Beach to the west of Looe and make it easier for walkers to walk a circular route from Hendersick Car Park to Hore Point. This route also provides a means of getting to Portnadler Beach. The steps down to the beach from the South West Coast Path are about 20 years old, constructed out of tanalised timber and were reaching their end of safe working life. The steps comprise a section of free standing steps up the first section from the beach and then a timber and earth flight to the top. These have been replaced in similar style but with the improvement of using chestnut from Cornwall.
