Our Projects - Coastguard Project

The coastguard approached the South West Coast Path team with a project to install small discrete locator discs on way-marks gates and fences all the way round the SWCP so that if there is an incident then walkers can locate precisely where they are.

Partly funded by Endurancelife and the South West Coast Path Association , this Unlocking our Coastal Heritage Project will enable the emergency services to save time reaching the incident. Endurancelife, which organises regular challenge events along the Coast Path each year, in partnership with corporate customers, RBS and Michelmore Hughes, were delighted to be able to support this project.

Mick Cooke of the Brixham Coastguard, who came up with the idea, said: “The sooner the Coastguard arrive at the scene of an accident, the better the likely outcome for the casualty, so these little signs could help save a life.”
