Our Projects - Hemmick Beach

Situated adjacent to Hemmick Beach which lies within the shadow of Dodman Point, these steps form part of a busy and popular section of the SWCP. The existing tanalised timber risers forming the steps were showing significant signs of rot and a number of risers had already collapsed, making the steps difficult and awkward to use. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, and using National Trust staff and volunteers to undertake the work, all the existing risers (approximately 50 in total) were replaced with new hardwood timber risers, each held in place with substantial steel bars.
