Our Projects - Porthcurnick

Situated close to the village of Portscatho on the Roseland Peninsula, Porthcurnick is a very popular family beach, well used by locals and visitors alike. Along with providing the low tide route for the South West Coast Path, the steps also provide well used access to the beach. The existing steps have been constructed from insitu concrete laid over a rubble base and despite patch repairs over recent years; they are continuing to show significant signs of wear and degradation. Severe erosion of the final few steps onto the beach has also now made the steps difficult to use. Also, the metal handrail is severely corroded and one section at the base of the steps has already fallen away. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, the steps ave been renewed.
