Our Projects - Windbury Hill Fort

Windbury Hillfort is situated near Brownsham on the North Devon Coast. With far reaching views across Bideford Bay and over to Lundy Island , the South West Coast Path runs straight through the Hillfort. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, this project’s aim was to clear some of the steeper sections of the ramparts, to open up views and help control gorse regrowth. After the work was completed the views were opened up, the gorse will be easier to control in the future and people will have a better appreciation of the hillfort lay out.
