Our Projects - Lester Cliffs

The South West Coast Path around Lester Cliff is well used by walkers. Over the past 25 years scrub, mainly blackthorn and gorse, had blocked many views both west along the North Devon coast to Watermouth and east towards the Hangman Hills. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, areas of scrub along a 500 metre stretch of the coast path were cut down and burned to open up the views. Removing the scrub close to the path also helped dry the path and give the whole area a more open, fresh feel. Annual maintenance of this stretch of path will be easier in the future now the blackthorn has been removed.
