Our Projects - Heddon car park, Exmoor
This, the largest project completed by the National Trust in West Exmoor, has benefited from financial support from the Great South West Walk, the Exmoor National Park Partnership Fund and an access improvement grant from the Forestry Commission. as well as funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project. The car park in the Heddon Valley has been resurfaced to provide year round parking for visitors wishing to access the Coast Path and will also improve the landscape by encouraging people not to park along roadside verges and in gateways. The car park already benefits from public lavatories, a National Trust shop selling ice cream and Tramper mobility scooter hire. It will soon be planted out with fruit trees from which people will be welcome to pick apples to have with their picnics. In the spring, summer and autumn month’s oil drum barbeques are available for visitors to use free of charge.
