Our Projects - Putsborough

This 500 metre stretch of South West Coast Path near Putsborough in North Devon is also a bridleway and is used regularly by horse riders and cyclists as well as walkers and mobility buggies. The project is an extension of the easy access improvements made a few years ago to the adjoining section on the SWCP. The existing surface was very rocky with numerous ruts and a very loose surface. The improvements included scraping back the surface using a JCB until level and then resurfacing using local crushed stone, compacting using a roller and re instating all the side rain gutters. Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, the result is a much better surface which will be very welcomed by cyclists and horse riders and any mobility buggy users as well as walkers.
