Our Projects - St Saviours, Polruan

Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, this project was able to surface a 75m section of the South West Coast Path in this location. Access for materials and machinery is difficult due to the steepness and narrow nature of the village lanes. This is a relatively level section of path (after the steep hill coming out of Polruan) and it already has three seats located here. This section of the path is not surfaced and as a result of heavy usage was prone to becoming very muddy in wet weather. The improved surface now provides an easier short gentle walk with people able to sit on the seats and enjoy the views. The path has been excavated, levelled and surfaced. The type of surfacing stone has been chosen to blend into the surroundings whilst providing a good walking surface. Improving the surface of this section, by laying a compacted stone surface has made a more accessible path for less mobile walkers.
