Our Projects - Pencarrow Access Path

Thanks to funds raised by the South West Coast Path Association and from the Unlocking our Coastal Heritage project, the project was able to improve and upgrade the surfacing of a 160m section of the path that links the car park to the South West Coast Path and nearby beaches. The footpath was built about 15 years ago to provide a safer route to the beaches at Lantic Bay and to gain access to the South West Coast Path by providing an off road path. The footpath was not surfaced and with large numbers of year round walkers was prone to being wet and muddy and unpleasant to walk on in wet weather. This situation was exacerbated by the path being at the bottom of the adjacent field and therefore subject to water runoff collecting on the path. Works completed: The path has been excavated, levelled and surfaced. The type of surfacing stone has been chosen to blend into the surroundings whilst providing a good walking surface.
