Walk - The Tin Coast’s Hallowe’en Challenge Fun Run

Route Description
Arrival & signing in: Parking is available in the National Trust car park at Botallack SW364332. National Trust members park for free. Start the route anytime between 11am and 3pm. Collect a map from the National Trust team at Botallack Count House Workshop and ask to be timed if you would like to be.
Finish point: Please sign out at Botallack Count House Workshop when you have completed the challenge.
Participants: Open to all, although a short steep hill and narrow tracks makes the route unsuitable for buggies. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Start from Botallack Count House at any time between 11am and 3pm on Friday 28 October.
Challengers will follow the marked route amongst the eerie mining landscape of the Tin Coast, before returning along the South West Coast Path itself. Hallowe’en or coastal wildlife themed fancy dress is welcomed – just don’t forget to be prepared for the weather extremes October on the coast can bring. Why not bring a team of friends and family and make a race of it? Sign up for the event online as part of the South West Coast Path Challenge. You’ll then receive a fundraising pack and your own challenge t-shirt! The 630 miles of the south west coast path costs around £1000 per mile to care for each year. It is enjoyed by millions of people each year, and is a fantastic place to get close to nature and spot the wildlife that lives in this diverse landscape. The South West Coast Path Challenge aims to raise vital funds to care for these special places.
Whilst you’re there… refreshments are available from Botallack’s Count House Workshop along with a wealth of information about the history of this Cornish Mining World Heritage Site. On Friday 28 October, visitors to Botallack can also have a go at ‘Arrows’ archery, specially designed so all the family can have a go, and provided to the National Trust by Archery GB. Donations towards the South West Coast Path Challenge fund are very welcome.
