West Bay to Freshwater, West Dorset: Path reopened
August 2nd: Update Path reopened
Thanks to the cooperation of the golf course and the work of Dorset Countryside (Dorset Council) the Coast Path along the cliff top between West Bay and Freshwater has been reopened a few metres inland, so walkers no longer need to follow the diversion shown on the map below.
In places the edges of the cliff on this section (and elsewhere around the path) are overhanging and so walkers should keep to the Coast Path and not stand on the edge.

June 29th, 2017: Following a cliff fall close to West Bay, a 1-mile section of Coast Path between West Bay (Grid Ref SY 463 903) and Freshwater Holiday Park has been closed. Walkers can instead follow the roughly parallel Public Footpath that runs 1/4 mile inland across the golf course - see map below. A BBC news item can be found here.
