Flooding of Path on Porlock Marsh, near West Porlock
A stream has burst its bank and flooded the Path between Porlock and Porlock Weir. If you walk this stretch there is no practical way of avoiding wet feet, until the weather improves.
To avoid this, an alternative route is available using a short section of the Coleridge Way and local roads.
If walking westbound from Bossington, leave the Coast Path to follow Sparkhayes Lane into Porlock. Turn right along the High Street. Keep going past the junction with the B3225 and then fork right onto New Road to then follow part of the Coleridge Way towards Porklock Weir. Leave the Coleridge Way before Porlock Weir to follow a short section of the B3225, forking left onto Worthy Toll Road to then re-join the official route of the SWCP at Porlock Weir. The reverse also applies.
