Devon artist Dave Crocker, has just completed his final work of art, painting a series of 365 coastal landscapes from the South West Coast Path. It marks the finishing touch to his project, which will be showcased throughout the summer with a run of 21 exhibitions along the coast, beginning in Plymouth's Mayflower Sailing Club from 22 to 26 May. 

In the last few weeks of the project, Dave got behind the South West Coast Path Association's 40th anniversary event, the Great South West Walk and pledged his support for his subject matter by donating a percentage of his profit to the charity to invest in improvement projects along the route.

Aptly named, 365 Paintings in a Year on the South West Coast Path, the inspiration for the project, began on Monday 21st May 2012, with Dave’s first painting ‘Purple Rock at Bovisand’.

Throughout the following week, he continued to paint outdoors on the coast. The support he received from the people that he met on the Coast Path in those initial days was overwhelming, and inspired him to continue painting 365 paintings from along the South West Coast Path within a year.

The first 70 paintings within the project were all completed between Wembury and Mount Batten, Dave’s local section of the path.

Following an exhibition in August 2012, Dave decided to travel further and paint from other areas of the Coast Path, which covers 630 miles from Minehead to Poole.

Throughout the project, Dave has tried to capture the variety of the scenes that appear along the UK’s longest National Trail.

In April 2013, he launched a new website to showcase his art and give people from all parts of the country the opportunity to purchase prints online. It also details practical visitor information for each location along the path, sharing the knowledge he has obtained throughout his project.
