Trailblazer Walk gets off to golden start!
Over 30 supporters gathered in Minehead last week to start the epic 630-mile relay around the South West Coast Path to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the charity that protects and champions this incredible world trail.
Sunny skies have ensured that the first few days of the walk have delivered picture-perfect conditions. Walkers have travelled long distances to be a part of the historic event, with some travelling as far afield as the Netherlands, Essex, and Bristol, with many more set to travel and join the walk at different stages.
It is hoped that over 2,000 people will join the expedition over the coming weeks. Tickets are free and it’s a great opportunity for people to walk and talk with fellow hikers passionate about the South West Coast Path. Each walk is led by a volunteer path rep from the Association guiding the group along their stretch of Coast Path.
You can join the Trailblazer Walk for a morning or afternoon walk or for several continuous days like one of the walk participants, Sue, who has signed up for the first 14 days. By the time she completes her 14 days, she will have walked from Minehead, Somerset to Rock, Cornwall and covered an impressive 155.5 miles!
