The Great Race...

TV adventurer and patron of the South West Coast Path Challenge taking place throughout October, Monty Halls, is gearing up for his challenge to protect the South West Coast Path.

He has nominated three of his friends to join him, Brendon Prince, Jason McKinlay and Yorkie the whippet to run 5 miles along the Coast Path in South Devon, which he's self titled The Great Race! Watch his video pledge here and share with your friends to challenge them to a hike on the Coast Path this October.

Monty's doing it because he says;

“Some of my happiest memories have been out running or walking the South West Coast Path, which snakes right past my house in Dartmouth, so it's really important to me and my family.

"My pledge as part of the South West Coast Path Challenge month is to sea kayak to Scabbacombe and run the 5 miles of Coast Path back to Dartmouth."

"This must be one of the most stunning sections of Coast Path. It’s classic coastal walking with precipitous climbs and coves that you can only access on foot and Scabbacombe has a beautiful beach. You might see a golden oriel, one of Britain’s rarest birds which have been spotted on this coastline or experience a peregrine in fight.

“The Coast Path for me is my salvation. The quiet bays and coves offer a real haven and it’s a great way to get in to nature. It’s one of the most magical trails in Europe.

“By the time you get back to Dartmouth you really appreciate the cream tea at the end and there’s no better place than Byard’s Cove Inn, straight off the lower ferry from Kingswear.”
