We are delighted to announce that Cornwall self-catering specialist Beach Retreats have begun supporting the Association as sponsors. On the longest day of the year, 21^st June 2018, to celebrate our new partnership, they set the record for visiting the most Cornish beaches in one day - a rather creative challenge they took on to raise money for our '40 for 40' campaign.

Forthglade, the Devon based natural pet food maker, established in Winkleigh in 1971, has teamed up with the South West Coast Path Association to help protect one of the region’s favourite dog walking spots.

Treat your Dad to a special day out on the coast this Father’s Day with a walk along the South West Coast Path, followed by a good pub lunch with great sea views. There’s nothing quite like a good hike to spend some quality time together and create memories that will last a lifetime.

This week, Richard Walton is taking over from Mark Owen as the South West Coast Path National Trail Officer. Richard brings with him a wealth of experience in managing a wide range of countryside sites and public access, most recently in Bracknell Forest, but previously in Cornwall and North Devon. As National Trail Officer, Richard will be coordinating the upkeep of the Trail and developing improvement projects.

After almost 20 years of working on the South West Coast Path, Mark is stepping down from the role to focus on his other passion - looking after a wildlife friendly Dartmoor farm  producing high quality pasture fed beef and lamb.

To ensure a smooth handover, they have been working together for the past few weeks, meeting with many of the Association’s volunteers and the rangers working for the local authorities and National Trust who care for the path.

As part of our youth engagement project ‘Coast Path Explorers’ we’ve created new and exciting ways for you to get out and enjoy the Path this summer.  

Celebrities, outdoors enthusiasts, walkers and runners alike are coming together to help raise £40,000 to support the South West’s 630 mile National Trail. 

Come and spend a day out with us in the beautiful South Hams, Devon on the new date of Friday 20th April.

The South West Coast Path Association welcomes the House of Lords Select Committee’s report on the Natural Environment and Rural Communities Act. Especially as it highlights the importance of access to the countryside and the important role England’s National Trails play in the local economy and our wider health and wellbeing.

Seventeen-year-old Josef FitzGerald-Patrick from near Land’s End has been announced the winner of the South West Coast Path Association’s annual photography competition. The winning photograph, which beat over 4,800 other entries, shows a firework display held at Land’s End in August last year and took the budding photographer three years to perfect.

The South Hams Society are organising a number of beach cleans throughout 2018.
