A new series about the South West Coast Path starts tonight on BBC 1 at 7.30pm. Initially it will only be shown in the South West region, but there are plans to broadcast it nationally on BBC2 in November, but if you can't wait until then we expect it to be on iplayer.

Avid runners and fitness enthusiasts are invited to attend the 17.5 mile Trail Running Challenge on 2nd October organised by Trail Events Co. in partnership with the South West Coast Path Association. The Association is looking to break the world record for the number of times the 630 mile route is walked or run in one month, whilst raising much needed funds to maintain and protect the Path. Nearly 150 runners have registered for this Challenge so far, pledging to run over 2600 miles between them.

The South West Coast Path Association and the National Trust, their charity partner, have created a 2016 Challenge event, covering the whole month of October. They are looking for people to collectively stomp over 10,000 miles to raise thousands of pounds in sponsorship - so far over 3,500 miles have been pledged by 260 walkers! It costs at least £1,000 to maintain just 1 mile of Coast Path and an additional £2,000 for the National Trust to take care of the countryside that surrounds it, so every mile pledged this autumn will really count. 

A long-standing member of the South West Coast Path Association is one of the most committed Coast Path walkers who has not only completed the Coast Path once but twice – and counting!

Local people and businesses are invited to take part in Thurlestone Golf Club’s third annual Charity Golf Day on Friday 9^th September, to fundraise for the South West Coast Path Association.

On 31^st May, Maurice Rimes set off on his walk of a lifetime along the South West Coast Path, using the reverse guide which took him from Poole to Minehead with the aim to reach his final destination by 19th July.

This moderate walk has spectacular views out over Padstow Bay and beyond. Visit an Iron Age fort, Bronze Age burial mounds and a breathtaking sandy cove surrounded by gorse and woodland. The Pentire Point and Rumps walk on the South West Coast Path is the walk of the month for August as featured in our calendar.

The South West Coast Path Challenge is back for the second year running and is set to attract hundreds of walkers throughout October, to help raise funds to protect this National Trail.

Marines from 42 Commando were drafted in to help with the diversion of the Coast Path at Beacon Point, South Milton this week.
