Saturday 9th June - AGM walk

The plan for the AGM walk on Saturday June 9th is to leave the hotel at 9.30am and walk along the promenade towards Torquay. From there up to Daddyhole Plain which gives great views over Torbay, as does the walk around Marine Drive. Following that there is a pleasant section through Bishop's Walk woods and then a walk up to the wide open area of Walls Hill, again with great views overlooking Lyme Bay towards Teignmouth and beyond. From there it will be down to Babbacombe Beach and a short walk overlooking the sea to Oddicombe Beach below Babbacombe which is where the walk will end, at about 12.30pm.

Walkers finishing at Oddicombe Beach will then have the opportunity to carry on further if they wish, or ascend to Babbacombe Downs on the Cliff Railway. On the Downs there are numerous cafes and pubs for lunch or a cream tea. From Babbacombe walkers can return to Torquay walking along the road, about 2 miles, or use a regular bus service, including the open top bus. All walkers will be responsible to make their own way back to Torquay or the Livermead House Hotel.

The proposed walk will be about 5.5 miles with some easy sections and a couple of short moderate sections, and is suitable for most walkers. We hope that the walk will be led by a representative from the Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust which will make it even more interesting. Walkers could also drop out at the end of Marine Drive which would be about 3.5 miles, but would need to walk through Wellswood to find a bus route back to Torquay Harbour.

We hope you will join us for what will be an interesting walk with lots of lovely views.
