£40,000 FOR 40 YEARS
On 20th May, the South West Coast Path celebrates its 40th birthday! That’s right, 40 years since this amazing 630-mile National Trail opened and to mark the occasion, we’re setting ourselves the challenge of raising £40,000 to help protect it now and in the future. Will you help us?
What are we raising money for?
Walking the whole of the South West Coast Path will see you cross 230 bridges, open (and close!) 880 gates, climb over 436 stiles, pass more than 4,000 Coast Path signs and go up or down over 30,000 steps. All this vital infrastructure makes the stunning coastline accessible, but it takes a lot of time and money to keep it in good shape.
Who benefits from 40 for 40?
9 million people every year use the South West Coast Path to experience nature and adventure as well as support their mental and physical well-being. To some the Path represents freedom from the frenzy of modern-life, to others it is somewhere to keep fit, or just a much-loved gateway to sea. Put simply, the Path improves lives.
