There is no limit to the number of entries, but you will need to complete the form for each individual entry. Terms and conditions 

 

The South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition is organised by the South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA) in partnership with Finisterre. 

Entries 

  • All entries must be submitted using the SWCPA website. Email entries will not be accepted. 

  • An image will be rejected if, in the opinion of the Competition Committee and/or the official judge, it appears that the image has been taken in such a way that is unlawful. 

  • Black and White images are acceptable. 

  • Entries will be accepted from 11:00 am on Monday 2nd of November 2020 until midnight on Friday 21st February 2021. The winner, as chosen by the Competition Committee and/or official judge, will be announced no later than 28th March 2021.  

  • For your entry to qualify, your photograph must have been taken on or near the South West Coast Path (within a 5-mile radius). Photographs of the South West Coast Path taken from the sea or air also qualify. 

  • Once entered, images cannot be withdrawn unless the organisers are notified of a permissions problem, in which case if the organisers are satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to justify withdrawal, the images will be withdrawn. 

  • Submission of an entry to the competition automatically constitutes the photographer’s acceptance of all conditions set forth in these Terms and Conditions. 

  • The South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition is open to anyone except those directly or indirectly involved in the organisation of the competition. 

  • There is no fee to enter the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition.   

Judging 

  • The competition committee will assess all entries and a shortlist will be submitted to a pre-selected panel of judges for final winner selection following the closing date. 

  • The decision of the judges is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. 

  • The ‘Climate Crisis Capture Award’ will be judged independently by media social enterprise FotonowTheir decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  

Prize 

  • The winning entry selected by the judging panel will receive a Finisterre gift card worth £500. The winner will be contacted via email and issued with a digital voucher, valid for 1 year. The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable, and is not redeemable for cash or other prizes. All Finisterre gift cards can be redeemed online or in any of our stores.

  • The winner will be notified by email and will be published on the SWCPA website and social media websites. 

  • The winner of the Climate Crisis Capture Award will win a prize package from the South West Coast Path Association (SWCPA) worth £50.  

  • The SWCPA reserve the right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice. 

  

Permissions and Copyright   

  • By submitting images to the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition, each entrant confirms and warrants that: 

  • They are the sole author of each entry and that it is their original work; 

  • They own the copyright and any other intellectual property rights of each image; 

  • They have the permission of anyone pictured in the image (or, where the image shows any persons under 18, the consent of their parent/guardian) for the usage rights required by South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition and will indemnify the SWCPA against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement; 

  • They have received any necessary permissions from the owner(s) of objects including buildings included in submitted images for the usage rights required by South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition and will indemnify the SWCPA against any claims made by any third parties in respect of such infringement.  

  • By entering the competition, you grant the SWCPA, its sponsors and partners a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit, on any media, the images for any purpose directly connected with the South West Coast Path or the work of the SWCPA. 

  • The SWCPA will make every reasonable effort to ensure that name credits are given to any photograph published in any medium. 

  • This may include, but is not limited to: inclusion in The Complete Guide to the South West Coast Path, the SWCPA’s member magazine, newsletters, marketing materials, display at exhibitions; display on a web browser for judging purposes; on the SWCPA’s website and on the websites of sponsors and supporters; on social media used by the SWCPA, its sponsors and partners; for use in releases to be distributed to international, national, regional and specialist press and other media giving information about or promoting the South West Coast Path or SWCPA. 

  • Entrants retain the copyright to images submitted. 

  • Any personal contact information that you share with the SWCPA via the South West Coast Path Photographer of the Year 2020 competition will be held securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act. We will never share or sell your personal data with third parties. 

  • The SWCPA retain the right to add any images entered to the competition to the SWCPA Flickr account. 

  • The winner may be invited to take part in post awards publicity.
